The Indian Air Force will conduct an operational training programme for its Surface-to-Air Guided Weapon (SAGW) units at the Suryalanka Air Force Station in Bapatla district from December 1-24, restricting public access to designated coastal areas during the corresponding period.
The government on Wednesday issued a notification under Section 3A of the Seaward Artillery Practice Act, 1949, declaring specified areas adjoining the air force station as dangerous zones during the scheduled activities.
The training will be conducted in two phases, from December 1-11 and December 12-24. Activities will take place between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. during both phases.
As part of the exercise, areas extending 100 km into the sea within a 110-degree radial sector from the firing points have been designated unsafe. The area within a 200-degree radial sector, extending from ground level to unlimited altitude, has also been declared unsafe.
Authorities have been directed to issue necessary warnings and prevent people from entering the designated zones during the specified hours.
The government has advised the public to remain vigilant near the firing points, strictly follow safety instructions and cooperate with the authorities throughout the training programme.
