JSP cadre told to gear up for local body polls

Jana Sena Party (JSP) Visakhapatnam city president and South Assembly Constituency MLA Ch Vamsikrishna Srinivas called upon party leaders and cadres to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots and prepare for the upcoming local body elections, with the aim of achieving a 100% strike rate in every ward where the party contests.

Addressing a meeting of constituency in-charges, ward presidents, former corporators and senior party leaders at the Jana Sena city office at Seethammapeta on Sunday, Mr. Vamsikrishna asked the leaders and workers to identify the party’s strengths and weaknesses in every ward and formulate the election strategy well in advance

He said that Jana Sena Political Affairs Committee chairman Nadendla Manohar would visit Visakhapatnam on September 2 and a special meeting on the proposed GVMC elections would be held under his leadership in the North constituency on September 3.

The MLA said the party would conduct comprehensive surveys in every ward to assess its organisational strength, local political equations and public response.

“The party will not select candidates merely on the basis of vote share secured in previous elections. Current political circumstances, popularity among voters, grassroots strength and the candidate’s contribution to the party would be considered while finalising nominees,” he said.

Mr. Srinivas added that social balance would also be taken into account, particularly in view of the reservations for women and BC communities. He said that leaders and workers who worked hard for the party would be given due recognition.

The party leadership will hold further discussions with Mr. Pawan Kalyan on the election strategy and the Jana Sena chief himself would oversee the process of allotting seats to candidates, he said.

He announced that a task force comprising senior party leaders would be constituted to coordinate election preparations, candidate selection and ward-wise assessment of the party’s strengths and weaknesses. Special meetings would also be held constituency-wise to seek suggestions from leaders and cadres.

Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu and a large number of Jana Sena workers attended the meeting.
