China mulls export curbs on AI, biomedicine and solar tech

Chinese authorities began public consultation on Friday over a revised export control list, with plans to add AI, biomedicine and photovoltaics technologies.

The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Science and Technology are proposing changes covering 40 technologies across three sectors, according to a notice from the Commerce Ministry.

Exporters will also have to register these technologies before shipping them, the ministry said.

Public consultation runs from October 16 to November 15, 2026.
