Sharks sign head coach Ryan Warsofsky to multi-year extension

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky was to a multi-year contract extension by the Sharks, general manager Mike Grier announced on Thursday.

Warsofsky now begins his third season as head coach for the Sharks, and fifth year total after previously serving as an assistant coach.

Last season, San Jose finished with a 35-41-6 record, good enough for 11th place in the Western Conference. This was a 19-win differential compared to the previous year.

Warsofsky holds a 59-85-20 record with the Sharks through two seasons.

In addition to developing the Sharks into a perennial playoff contender, 2025 first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini set a record for most points in franchise history last season with 115, passing Joe Thornton's 114 points from 2006-07.

Before joining the Sharks organization, Warsofsky was head coach for the Charlotte Checkers and Chicago Wolves of the AHL, winning the Calder Cup with the Wolves in 2022.

San Jose enters the 2026-27 season as one of the youngest teams in the NHL, with an average age of under 27 years old.
