Canada qualifies for 2028 Olympics in women’s volleyball

The Canadian Women's national volleyball team has secured a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Canada punched its ticket on Saturday by defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14) in the final of the NORCECA Continental Qualifier in Santo Domingo.

The Canadian women have not competed at the Olympics since the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

Kiera Van Ryk and Alexa Gray both had 22 points for Canada in the win as their side led in attacks, aces, points from errors and blocks.

Canada had already won its first continental title in the Dominican Republic on Thursday after a 3-2 win over the United States.

It helped the Canadians earn a spot in the qualifier, where they swept Puerto Rico on Friday before Saturday's triumph to clinch their spot in Los Angeles.
