Elderly woman in critical condition after being pulled from Rockcliffe Park swimming area
A woman in her 80s was transported to the hospital by paramedics in “very serious” condition after bystanders pulled her from a public pond in Rockcliffe Park on Friday.
Emergency crews responding to a 9-1-1 call at 12:46 p.m. on Aug. 14 found the woman in life-threatening condition, Chris Bourne, service duty officer at the Ottawa Paramedic Service , told the Ottawa Citizen.
“She was pulled from the water unconscious by bystanders and resuscitation was started on scene,” Bourne said.
Paramedics said the woman was breathing after being resuscitated at the scene and was then transported to a hospital.
The public swimming area, known as The Pond, is located near McKay Lake in the Rockcliffe Park neighbourhood.
