Man found dead in Chilliwack was struck by train: RCMP

Vancouver Sun ·

Police say a man was struck and killed by a train on Friday night in Chilliwack.

RCMP reported the man was struck by a train around 9:45 p.m. on Friday. He was found under the Yale Road overpass. Emergency medical personnel confirmed the man was dead.

Anyone who was in the area or witnessed the collision can contact Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.

In January 2025, a woman was struck and killed near the same overpass. A 28-year-old Chilliwack man was also struck and killed by a train near that location in May 2025.

Fatal accidents in the Fraser Valley occur at a frequency among the highest in Canada, according to news reports, with more than 120 people killed by trains in the past 40 years and half of those in Chilliwack — the highest number for B.C. and the fourth-worst in the country.
