John Leguizamo set to receive ‘Career Achievement’ crown after four decades in Hollywood

John Leguizamo will receive a Career Achievement Award from the Critics Choice Association after more than four decades on screen.

The 66-year-old actor will lead the honourees at the sixth annual Celebración of Cinema and Television on 2 October at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, with his honour arriving as his latest film, The Odyssey, continues its record-breaking run at the global box office.

The event, previously called the Celebration of Latino Cinema and Television, recognises Latino and Hispanic talent working on and off screen.

John’s award follows his appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which has become the highest-grossing film of the director’s career and the highest-grossing R-rated movie worldwide.

The Homer adaptation, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, has now passed $1.35 billion at the box office globally.

The recognition also marks a career that has included roles in Carlito’s Way, Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, When They See Us and the Ice Age franchise, in which John voiced Sid the sloth.

He is an Emmy winner, a Special Tony Award recipient and a four-time Tony nominee.

The 2026 line-up of honourees at the Celebración of Cinema and Television will also includes Judy Reyes, 58, Oscar Núñez, 67, Aimee Carrero, 38, Laysla De Oliveira, 34, Inde Navarrette, 25, and James Ortiz.

Inde will receive the Breakthrough Actress Award – Film for her performance in Focus Features’ Obsession.

The Critics Choice Association said the horror film has grossed $495.5 million worldwide, with Inde’s performance as Nikki helping turn the movie into a box-office hit.

James will collect the Innovator Award for his work on Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary.

The Broadway puppeteer performs, voices and operates the alien Rocky opposite Ryan Gosling in the space epic.

His stage design credits also include the Tony-nominated The Skin of Our Teeth.

Judy will receive the Trailblazer Award for her television work, including ABC and Hulu crime drama High Potential.
