Live: Taylor indicates Coalition's migration target could fall 'well below' 200,000

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor says the Coalition's migration target could be "well below" 200,000 as the opposition develops a policy to tie migration to housing construction.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has appeared on Channel Seven after having a fall during a 1,000 kilometre fundraising bike ride for a veterans.

Taking a not so subtle jab at the PM, Taylor says he's not in denial about having fallen off his bike saying it's "important to fess up".

But back to the issues at hand, the opposition leader has been asked about the Coalition's migration policy.

The topic has come to the fore after One Nation MP David Farley told ABC's Insiders on Sunday that the party's migration cuts put it on footing "not too different" to the government at about 230,000 per year.

Pauline Hanson has since said that One Nation's net migration target would be 130,000, "less than half" than Labor's current migration levels.

Taylor says the Coalition's migration policy will be tied to Australia's housing supply, and that the opposition's number could be "well below" 200,000.

"We've got to make sure we match the number of people coming into the country with the number of houses being built. As I say we expect that's going to be well below 200,000," Taylor says.
