Singing Virgin flight attendant David Hammond becomes online hit after serenading passengers with Tina Turner hit
A Virgin Australia flight attendant has become an overnight online sensation after serenading passengers on a flight.
During a domestic flight from the Gold Coast to Melbourne on Thursday, passengers were given an unorthodox extra dose of in-flight entertainment courtesy of one of its air hosts.
A hilarious clip being shared on Instagram shows a man in a Virgin uniform, confirmed as cabin manager David Hammond, belting out a rendition of Tina Turner’s 1984 hit What’s Love Got to Do With It?’
While some passengers in view appear disengaged, others are swaying, clapping along and joining in.
Several travellers also film the moment in which Mr Hammond picks up the in-flight intercom receiver and uses it as a makeshift microphone.
The video was shared by an account called Due Baci Publishing, describing the attendant as “an absolute icon”.
“There’s something wonderful about seeing people genuinely LOVE what they do,” the post reads.
“Grazie, David, for making our experience with Virgin Australia such a joyous one.”
The airline itself even got in on the fun, replying to the post with a lighthearted retort.
“David providing the in-flight entertainment,” the airline’s account posted, with a winking emoji.
The comical incident unfolded aboard Thursday’s flight VA736, a daily service between the Queensland and Victoria spots that departs at 11.55am each day.
