Mel Gibson apologises for ‘thoughtless idiocy’ after seemingly mocking ASL interpreter at fan event

Mel Gibson is under fire for mocking an American Sign Language interpreter at a fan event in Toronto, Canada over the weekend.

The Hollywood star was captured on video walking onstage waving at attendees before seemingly mocking a woman signing in front of him and pointing to the crowd.

The footage has since exploded, with social media users blasting the 70-year-old for his bizarre behaviour.

“This choice is bonkers to me. . . The interpreter is just doing their job. What dysfunction causes a brain to need to be casually cruel for no reason,” one person wrote on X.

Others dubbed the Sydney raised star’s behaviour as “despicable” and “gross”, with one person going so far as to say: “He just can’t stop being a cruel a**** who never takes responsibility for his raging a******”.
