18yo charged with murder after drone seized in investigation into fatal Merrylands shooting

A teenager has been charged with murder after police seized drone evidence allegedly linking him to a fatal shooting in Sydney’s west.

Officers arrested the 18-year-old this week as part of their investigation into a man, 40, being shot dead at a Merrylands West home on September 2.

Police seized a drone during the search of a home in West Hoxton at about 5.30am on Thursday. A 19-year-old was also arrested at the property.

Investigators forensically examined the drone, allegedly uncovering evidence connecting the 18-year-old drone operator to the killing.

The teenager was charged with murder and participating in a criminal group.

The 19-year-old was charged with taking part in a criminal group and driving with a suspended licence.

He was granted conditional bail at Liverpool Local Court on Friday. He is due return to court on September 24.
