Perth music teacher David Hicks charged with more child abuse offences after more alleged victims identified

A music teacher who taught at private schools across Perth is facing additional child abuse charges after police identified two more alleged victims.

Police charged Hillarys man David Hicks, 34, with 10 additional offences, including one count of indecently dealing with a child over 13 and under 16 and three counts of producing child exploitation material.

He was also charged with six counts of using a listening device to record a private conversation.

Mr Hicks was being investigated about allegations he acted inappropriately towards children.

Police raided his home in Perth’s north and allegedly found child exploitation material on several electronic devices in September.

A police spokesman said the accused was employed at schools in the Perth metro area and tutored music outside of school hours.

Detectives initially charged him three counts of producing child exploitation material and two counts of indecently recording a child over 13 and under 16.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or make a report on the Safe2Say platform.
