Tears flow as Jai Arrow leads Souths out ahead of Titans clash: ‘Goosebumps’

Jai Arrow has led South Sydney out through a guard of honour in emotional scenes ahead of the Rabbitohs’ clash against the Titans on Saturday afternoon.

Arrow, who was forced into retirement earlier this year after being diagnosed with MND, walked out to the iconic anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the song made famous by English Premier League team Liverpool.

The entire crowd stood as one and there was barely a dry eye in the house as an emotional Arrow walked onto the field for the 99th time as a South Sydney player.

He received a stirring round of applause before being substituted off as soon as the match got underway.

South coach Wayne Bennett had earlier helped Arrow get his socks on in a touching moment.

“Worst he has ever been. I am asking him why he is in that place but he kind of hasn’t answered the question, but he is very nervous.”

Bennett also said Arrow was the “first one on the bus” ahead of the game.

“I got on the bus and he is sitting right up the front, the first one on the bus,” Bennett said.

“I didn’t have the heart to tell him he was just running on, not staying on.”

“Titans just sent Jai Arrow off in the most beautiful way. So many emotions all around the stadium,” one fan said.

“If you’re not in tears watching this, you’re not human. Jai Arrow you’re amazing,” another said.

“One of the most electrifying and biggest goosebumps moments I’ve witnessed on a sporting field,” Another said.

“Well done to everyone involved in this rule change for Jai Arrow. Pretty special scenes,” another added.
