AFL clubs confirm interest in Bobby Hill with dumped star keen to revive career
Delisted Collingwood star Bobby Hill’s AFL career has a pulse, with West Coast confirming their interest in the 2023 Norm Smith medallist.
Hill has indicated he wants to revive his career after his time at Collingwood ended in July following personal challenges which have restricted him to just 14 games in two seasons, and none this year (he managed just three VFL appearances in 2026).
Fremantle have ruled out Hill but Eagles list manager Matt Clarke has revealed that the forward is on their radar.
“I think any one of that sort of talent ... you need to look at,” Clarke said on Trade Radio.
“Most clubs, I would have thought, are doing some due diligence about Bobby and how he’s tracking.
“It’d be great if he could get himself back into a great frame of mind and physical shape to give himself a shot at AFL footy.
“He’ll be another one we’ll assess for a potential position in that space.”
After starting his career at GWS, he moved to Collingwood for the 2023 season and starred in that year’s grand final with a four goal performance.
After playing 24 and 23 games in 2023 and 2024, his past two seasons have been plagued by several issues.
He had bumper contract at Collingwood which was due to expire at end of 2030, but that was torn up this year.
St Kilda footy manager Lenny Hayes has also hinted that Hill was an option for them.
“(But) I know Bobby from my time at the Giants. He’s been training hard and is keen for another opportunity, but it isn’t one we have discussed at the moment.
“As a footy club and a list management team, I’m sure they’re discussing all different options.
“We want to get better and there might be some guys who have come off lists who we might potentially add in the next couple of months.”
