Hit team seen running from execution in Melbourne’s north

A hit team executed a man outside a home in Melbourne’s outer north on Thursday evening before fleeing the scene in a car and on foot.

CCTV footage from Gypsum Drive in Wollert shows the incident unfolding about 5.30pm, with a woman left screaming next to the man’s body on the footpath.

The scene was cordoned off on Friday while homicide squad detectives investigated the incident. Police confirmed the victim was a 42-year-old Wollert man.

“No arrests have been made and at this early stage of the investigation, police are treating the incident as targeted,” police said in a statement.

Footage obtained by this masthead shows two black-clad figures run from Gypsum Drive, into nearby Lowline Way getting into a red sedan and speeding away .

A series of gunshots are heard in quick succession before a third man, also wearing black, appears to pick up a black bag and run off through a park and then along a residential street.

Another video obtained by Nine News shows paramedics comforting a distressed woman as she sits on the ground next to the victim.

Manav Matharoo, who lives on nearby Lowline Way, ran outside after the shooting and saw a woman sobbing uncontrollably.

“When we learned there had been a shooting next door it was a real shock,” he said. “It’s never happened before, we couldn’t sleep the whole night.”

Alok Singh said the woman was crying and “screaming at the top of her voice, I think she was just in shock.”

In the same suburb last year, Melbourne underworld figure Athan Boursinos was shot in a laneway behind his family home.

The 21-year-old, who was part of a street gang controlled by tobacco kingpin Kazem “Kaz” Hamad and his cousin, was ambushed in broad daylight on July 31, 2025 by hitmen hired by a NSW crime syndicate.

The site of Boursinos’ death in Wollert is a five-minute drive from the scene of Thursday’s homicide.
